The totem
poles were constructed by the A level students at Eltham College. The workshops
were run over a two month period. The sculptures are sited within the school
grounds.
The
students were each given an 18"x18" cube of ceder wood to carve their
design and through drawings and clay modeling worked on thier ideas these were
experimented with and tested in combination as the work progressed.finally the
blocks were bolted together and fixed onto firm foundations
This
ambitious carving project tested and challenged the students, each participant
produced a finished piece of work to represent the art department for years
to come.
